Somerset Township Board Meeting:
Thursday, February 20th at 7:00 PM
The meeting will be held in the Community Room of the
Township Office at 12715 East Chicago Road, Somerset Center, MI
I AM EXPECTING THE BOARD TO VOTE ON A MOTION TO PUBLISH ALL THE DOCUMENTS FOR THE MEETING ON THE TOWNSHIP WEBSITE WITH THE AGENDA EACH MONTH
Mary is well qualified to fill the position of Township Supervisor and is ready to begin on Day One.
Mike and Mary Meints had their own businesses in Florida for more than 30 years - Construction, Development, Commercial Rentals, and Residential Rentals. Mary has more than 30 years experience in accounting and will use that knowledge to protect the Township's assets and ensure proper application of the budget.
WHAT I WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY:
1) Transparency
- Video the Board meetings and post to the Township website.
- Minutes posted to the website will include all documentation.
- Balances for each fund will be provided at each meeting.
- All construction projects will be addressed to the Board for discussion and approval, then advertised for sealed bids.
2) Complete reorganization of the Website for clarity and consistency.
3) Establish Bylaws for the Board of Trustees.
4) Establish binders for meeting minutes and all policies and procedures to be made available for public inspection at any time the Township Office is open as per Michigan law.
5) Continuous contact with constituents -- Mary plans to establish a Supervisor's Page to update the community and collect feedback and suggestions no less than monthly, rather than send an annual newsletter with a recap of what has already happened.
